New Book: Shoe Dog | Memoir By The Creator Of Nike, Phil Knight
Picked up this book but really didn’t start it. Looking forward to diving into this one and I hope I can do 6 Months in a row to complete the 101 Things in 1001 days task.
little write up later…
New Kicks | For the Gym
Just picked up some shoes with some online Black Friday shopping in Nova Scotia online from Nike.ca. Two little pairs for the gym. Just basic light weight Nikes. Little did I know that Chantal was in Ontario when I was in Nova Scotia buying these and she bought the same pair but in a different colour. Great minds think the same. 😉
While I was at it… picked up some ugly J’s. Kind of ugly. These are just little shoes for the gym also. Can’t beat $49 dollar size 13 J’s that have little things from the 1988 model.
Jordan Eleven’s | GOAT
in 2000, i picked up a pair of size 13 elevens. i remember when they came out… i was not that much of a fan of them and they grew on me and now i just love them. they were in the movie space jam.
i’ve played basketball in them inside and i honestly can’t believe i’ve had them for 17 years. wtf.
these were released in 1995. created by Tinker Hatfield and he wanted to use materials not used in any basketball shoes. in 1995 they retailed for $124.99 back in the day. in 2000, i picked them up for two hundred bones. when money started the season after coming back at the end of the 95 playoffs, the bulls went 72-10 with J in the 11’s. J won the championship on Father’s Day one year after his father was taken from him. this shoe was his comeback shoe and sealed his second three-peat.
my kicks
Nike HyperFuse Supreme | Orange | 2012 | Coming Back Out
Bought these in 2012 and played a whack outside back then and have not worn them since. I put them away for the future. I’m going to start wearing them again on the courts and at the gym. Love how light they are. Picked up size 14 for these ones.
Going to really step up my “hoops” game and get ready for the summer outdoor season.
Nike ACG Aqua Sock | I’ve Owned These For Twenty Seven Years!
EST. 1989
Designed by Geoff Hollister, the Aqua Sock was about as simple as a shoe could get – a slip-on sock with a thin rubber outsole. That was it. They were meant for water sports (no, not that kind, perv) but also were an early vanguard of the minimalist movement.
My goodness… almost 30 years. This summer marks the twenty seventh year with these exact shoes! I’ve worn them on my 16km hike at Silent Lake with no issues. I’ve worn them when I decided to ride my mountain bike from Peterborough to Ajax. They came with me to Nova Scotia and had a dip in the Atlantic Ocean this past summer shown above.
I’ve even played basketball in them.
They were bought to be slippers around the house. They are ugly and I love them.
My daughter laughs at me and makes fun of them. I think she is jealous.
They are the perfect camping shoe. I promise they will make it to 30 years!
