Little Baller

Monday, November 26th, 2018

Chantal decided to play ball in her last year.  She didn’t play last year and did Soccer and Volleyball.  They didn’t have a good team since being at DOC and this year they hit a sweet flow and got stronger and stronger as the year went along.  They won gold at a tourney as the season was coming to the crunch.  In LOSSA they won gold and they represented the region at OFSSA in London, Ontario.

I was super excited and pulled out the old songs mixed in with what they listen to and made a little mixtape.  I was super nervous for OFSSA since there would be some super strong teams.  I was at work and following on Twitter and YouTube which they had some difficulty streaming the games.

First game they came out and won 67-62 in a game that they took the lead by 10ish points and the other team chipped in and made it close at the end.  The next day they won again and they didn’t play that good and it was basically a even game at the end of each quarter.

In the third game which I could watch on YouTube at work… they got smoked by Mother Theresa who won OFSSA the year before.  The press killed them…. but what a great memory going to OFSSA to compete at a chance to go far into the Tourney.  Smiley is below with Chantal who was born on the same night at the same hospital.  I’m happy that they played together.  They had a banquet to start of the tourney and the two shots are from the festivities.

What’s not to love with the video below.  I hope my daughter gets to experience the bonding of a team in team sports as she grows.  The friendships and memories…

The CANWNT is awesome.  No words to describe the commitment to excellence that John has brought to the team.  Before the 2012 Summer Olympics in London they came in last place in the previous World Cup.  They came in 3rd and captured the bronze medal for Canada.  Since then they have kept working and bringing a higher level of play and work ethic.  Sinclair has scored 154 goals in over 200 caps.  Flemming is only 17 years old and in High School and Buchanan is 19 and is a strong player.  DMath and Zur are my faves. EM in goal is a rock.

I’ve watched both games so far and the first one with my kids over drinks and it was great to watch them watch the entire game cheering on Canada.

My sweets is playing soccer this year.  The shoes I bought her are putting them in the back of the net which is kind of cool.  3 goals last week and she got 5 or 6 of her teams 8 goals in the first game.

This Girl Can | My Daughter Can | You Should Also

My daughter is active.  She is playing Volleyball this winter.  Last season… she was in advanced trampoline.  She enjoys skateboarding, basketball, soccer, track & field, cross country.  She wanted rollerblades for Christmas this year and we went out and bought some for her downtown.  She wants to ice skate more.  She plays road hockey with her little Brother.  She said she would like to play hockey.  She wants to kick my ass in Tennis and at anything.  She wants to race me and beat me all the time.  She wants to wrestle with me and pin me down and make me say “uncle”   She wants to learn snowboarding, tennis and any other sport out there.

I honestly don’t care what she plays.  I just want her to be happy… to always be open to meeting new people and enjoy life.  Playing individual sports and team sports is always a good thing.  For one… it’s the people you meet and the memories.  How everyone is working for a common goal in a team sport.

I just love this campaign below.  It also goes for me.  No matter what you do… jsdoit and get out there.  We all have barriers and this campaign is pretty cool.  I hope they keep it up and keep going with it.  We all come in different shapes and sizes.  The key is just getting out and pushing yourself and working as hard as you can and also having a blast with your mates.

This Girl Can celebrates the women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get. They’re here to inspire us to wiggle, jiggle, move and prove that judgement is a barrier that can be overcome.

In 1995 this ad was powerful to me.  I didn’t have kids at the time.  I was in a 6 year relationship with a woman that I wanted to marry and I wanted kids shortly.  I wanted them to grow up so we could play sports together.  Loved this ad below:

Then this commercial came out.

Chantal… go kick the worlds ass
