Spotify Playlists | Moods

You can find me here on Spotify.

Downloading the MAC or WINDOWS desktop version is sweet.  Easy to listen to music when you are on the computer at home working and surfing.  Spotify is free.  Using Spotify for free will play some commercials every 30 min and you can only shuffle through music.  I used to hate the idea of paying monthly for something like Spotify… but it has opened up my eyes to music all the time and listening to anything.  The collection of music is mind boggling and you can listen to albums or playlists and you can design your own.  If you have music in your computer you can listen to all of that.  Also you can pick and choose what music you want on your device and the storage the music takes up is small since it condenses nicely.  So you basically have music all over the place.

If you search for my name or click the link above you can hunt through the public playlists I’ve created and I’m still creating and tweaking them.  If you click “follow” on any playlist you will then find it in your “playlists” folder to check it out some more.

Here is the introduction to some of my playlists that are public.

Above:  I created basic times since when I wake up I don’t want anything loud or too busy.  6AM is when I’m still in bed and want to just let my mind wander.  2.5 hours of songs to shuffle.  It could also be when you are the first one up and you pour yourself a coffee.  It’s also a nice night time playlist.  8AM is when you want the pace to pick up slightly.  3.5 hours of shuffling.  It’s basically the songs in my tighter rotation that I just love.   8AM Vol 2 is the songs that have not made the main cut, and every now and then I will listen to that.  I rotate songs down to Vol 2 when I start to get tired of them.  10AM mix is when you are ready to talk to people.  😉

Below:  12PM is when you are ready to do some work or chores and it has great pace.  3PM is a smaller hand selected playlist of The Rural Alberta Advantage when you need to kick some ass.  Such a great band once they sink into your skin.

Above:  5PM Indie Quittin Vibes is when you are packing up to head to the pub for a pint.  You can also use this mix for kitchen get togethers and you mix drinks.  ATL Friday Night Vibes is more of alternative house party mix that the songs are more lively.  Weekend Rock Vibes is 6 hours of indie rock new and old.  (Arkells, U2, Lowest of The Low, Stars, Wintersleep, The Hip, Dan Mangan, Silversun Pickups, RAA, Japandroids).  Midnight Bike Rides is a great mix when you need to blow off steam with a ride or a run.  Instrumental with drums and songs that build.  (Explosions In The Sky, Toe, A Picture Of Her).  This 2 hour mix is put in order to play.  This playlist has been spun off to some driving playlists later on.

Below:  Explore is a 5 hour shuffle mix or if you want to listen track by track it’s for someone that needs a “new” Bon Iver fix that leads into other songs that are similar.  This is more of my hiking mix that has songs with more of a beat.  It’s also a good evening mix when you want to think a bit.  Great mix for a hike in the woods.  The Foggy Bay Of Fundy mix is a mix of Novo Amor that is perfect for being by the ocean or when you need a morning of fog and mist to fill your head with clarity.  Reminds me of Nova Scotia.  Roadtrip Shuffle mix is like the Weekend Indie rock mix above… but more hand selected with songs that make you feel good when looking out the window as you drive.  Driving in the White Mountains mix is a take off my midnight bike ride mix and would be the perfect mix for an afternoon of mountains as you drive and everyone is quiet in the car as you take it all in.

Above:  ChillHop Entertaining is more of an instrumental Hippy Hop Scratching mix and it’s more of a mingle mix with peeps or just when you come home and want to be lifted up a bit in a quiet house and maybe pour yourself a drink.  Bermuda + The 8:16pm shower mix if for when you want to have a candlelit shower with someone and you want some vibes inside.  ChillHop Long shuffle mix is just a combo and some other songs that don’t fit in the previous two.  Hipity Hop Evening Mix is 3hour of shuffle of newer hand selected songs of Drake, Frank Ocean and some others.

Below:  Sultry Evening Beats has a Hipity Hop feel with some other songs that just have a sultry evening feel to them.  If you wanted to mix a drink for a lady and you want a little urban chill vibe this is the mix for you.  Vol 2 is my songs that created a different vibe or just didn’t make the first cut.  Let’s Make Dinner Together is a great mix for just that.  This one is in order.  It just has a good quiet party of songs that have a good evening vibe when you are really focusing on each other and the background music is secondary.  Drinking wine as you go will make you feel confident and flirty.  Vol2 has songs that didn’t make the first cut and it’s still a solid mix.

Above:  Brooklyn Soul & Funk Summer BBQ Mix features lots of Brooklyn’s Menahan Street Band which is a little All Star band.  Has a vintage vibe to it and if you let it grow on you in the right situation… it’s a nice little mix.  Acid Jazz Seduction is another mix with a west coast vibe of mostly Greyboy.  It’s another chill vibe that is good for entertaining in the summer.  The Jazz Club is a Harvey Spector mix from Suits.  It features lots of Grant Green.  R&B Let’s Have Wine On The Couch is a romantic mix with John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Ben L’Oncle and Aloe Balcc which is perfect for a couch, kissing, wine and a nice evening.

Below:  Southern Soul is a good little mix if you are in a Leon Bridges mood with some Sam Cooke and Nina Simone.  Retro Vintage BBQ Vibes is perfect for summer backyard party or tunes for the beach.  This one has a retro feel with all the songs that has a Nantucket/Cape Code feel.  Chillpop the Lazy Couch mix is lots of Oh Wonder with the bank and forth banter vibes.  Quiet Sunday mix I guess.  Lie With Me On a Bed in Italy is a sexy let’s go on a trip together mix to let your mind wander.  Lots of Alina Baraz and some Oh Wonder.  It’s a spin off my Sultry Evening Vibes listed above.

Above:  Lie With Me: Afternoon Couch is the 3hour lie on a couch mix with someone to nap and kiss them if you can’t sleep.  This mix is in order with hand selected songs.  Lie With Me: Nakedy Slow O’s is basically songs from RY X if you want to hold someone just like the thumbnail suggests.  Shock + Awe Mix is when you want to have 3 shots, tie a man in a chair, go and change into something crazy and strip for him when the 3 shots hits you with liquid courage.  Summaluva’s Summer Cottage Mix is the long mix for the summer for Summaluva’s cottage.

Below:  Women Are Magical is a little playlist that the songs or the lyrics makes me think of all the magical things.  When you miss somoene is all the songs that makes you think of people you have lost in a relationship of some kind.  Shit Stomping Banjo’s is lots of Mumford and Strumbellas and anything with a fast twang.  Black Jesus is new and old Rap and Hip Hop for the courts or listening to on the way to the courts.

Above:  Dust Yourself Off mix is songs with great lyrics to pick yourself up and go kick some ass.  The next two are introduction to Ben Howard and once you pass that and you like him you can listen to more of moody Ben and some of his deeper stuff.  Polica is a great band that makes me excited.  Hard to describe them.

Below:  All the songs I love from the four artists.  If I want to shuffle their stuff from many albums… these are the songs that I love.

Above:  Blue Mussel Cafe is the playlist if I could pick the music for this great little spot that two High School friends own and I’m dying to go and try.  CFNY mix is the older stuff that reminds me to listen to the radio in high school with New Order, Cure, The Smiths, U2, Depeche Mode, etc.

Below:  The big random shuffle is like the radio for the Morning and Afternoon playlist with almost 30 hours of music.  This has all the songs that fit these two times of day.  It will also have the songs that didn’t make the cut in the 6am to 5pm mixes.  More of the “B-Stuff” mixed in.  Don’t put this on your device.  Instead steam from a laptop on wifi.  German Chill was created with some German dance and club music.  I kind of like listening to people speak german. Also perfect if you are at the Airport and you are going to board the Lufthansa LH471 flight from Toronto to Frankfurt Germany on a little long weekend trip. The french playlist is when you want to open your mind a little and listen to music and not focus on the words.  Has a little Paris vibe and works for the mornings or even a little home cooked meal for a date.

Above:  Little Havana is when you want to have a cuban vibe.  Sounds of Rain is when you want to lie in bed and pretend.  I miss you songs are small selected songs for the lyrics that makes you think of certain people.  The Kinda Depressed is new and I’m finding those songs that have deeper lyrics that makes you want to have a long soak in the tub.

Below: Noah is one song that reminds me of him.  Chantal’s Cheesy Country Old School Mix is when we were driving in my Dad’s car in Nova Scotia and Chantal loved the cheesy lyrics and the vibe from my Dad’s tape cassettes.  Winter Nights At Christmas is mostly off the beaten path of songs that have a Christmas vibe with some classics peppered in.

More playlists will be created and these will be tweaked.  I have over 60 public playlists.  Sign up for Spotify.  It’s free and easy.  Free is cool.  I do the Family Plan and it gives me 5 peeps to share it with.  So my Daughter, Son, my Dad and some others use it.
