Carolina + Believer | Kris Orlowski | Song Of The Quarter

Monday, December 28th, 2015

Kris Orlowski is a Seattle based indie song writer who I had the chance to catch at the Silver Dollar in Toronto.  He opened up for Ivan + Alyosha and I loved and downloaded some songs from his albums.  Two songs stuck out for me and I felt that I liked both of these songs equally and I picked up both of them for my Song Of The Quarter that is part of the songs that I pick for my Song Of The Year.

Since starting this blog I picked a song that would represent my song of the calendar year.  In 2015, I started to pick songs each quarter.

The first song below is Carolina which was my first download from Kris.  Two versions of the song below since the first one is a stripped down version.

Believer is the second song and I find it ringing positive in my ears.  I really like this singer songwriter.  I hope he returns to Toronto one day and I can catch him again.

The Franklin Electric | Sweet Indie Band From Montreal

Friday, December 18th, 2015

Last Feb a cool little indie band from Montreal opened for Ben Howard at Massey Hall and the crowd loved them. They were so happy that they had a chance to fill in at the last minute and support Ben and the band. They were a little imitated from the larger Massey but settled in.

As soon as I got home… I downloaded songs from them and checked them out on YouTube.  Below are my faves for different reasons…

They are on my list of 101 Things To Do In 1001 Days for “30 Artists To See Live over the 1001 days

Make It Count | My Workout Mix Mixtape | Download

Sunday, December 13th, 2015

This is my first “Make It Count” Mixtape with new songs added.  I was never happy with the cover.  It a collection of remixes and songs that make me want to move, run or bike.  Get outside and play.  To some it might be the most annoying music I like… but to me… it’s my workout mix.  I just wanted to share.  It might be yours.  It might also grow on you.

28 songs and a little over 2 hours on shuffle.

You can download it here

Pending List3 | #74 of 101 Things To Do In 1001 Days | Do 25 Push-ups

Saturday, December 5th, 2015

I can only do about 2 or 3 of them.  Super sad.  Well I will have to start practicing and post a video of me doing 25 straight push-ups.   Even if it’s brutal to watch.
