Movies Watched Recently. The last 40…

Movies above / Top Gun: Maverick 9/10 | Triangle of Sadness 7/10 | The Banshees of Inisherin 8/10 | The Menu 8/10 | The Watcher 7/10 | The Peanut Butter Falcon 8/10 | The Change Up 6/10 | Coda 8/10 |

In my list of 101 Things To Do In 1001 Days, I have a goal to watch more movies. To get those titles on my watchlist to 300 titles. Right now it’s at 534 titles. My goal is to get my reviewed movies up to 700 and now that is at 534. Top Gun was a 9/10 since who can’t argue with jets and missiles… made me fall in love with Jennifer C again. I gave 8’s to four movies in my last 10 watched…

The first one goes to The Banshees of Inisherin and The Menu. The Peanut Butter Falcon was my dark horse 8 and Coda made me tear up with another solid 8.

My ratings are under each movie thumbnail.

Next 10:

Movies above: She Said 8/10 | Emily the Criminal 7/10 | The Good Nurse 7/10 | The Night Before 6/10 | Operation Mincemeat 6/10 | The Redeem Team 6/10 | Cha Cha Real Smooth 9/10 | The Card Counter 6/10 | The Nest 5/10 | Ticket To Paradise 6/10 |

Cha Cha Real Smooth topped the list at a 9/10 by me. It has an IMDb Metascore of 69 and a 7.3/10 by close to 20k people. I fell in love with Cooper Raiff’s character and who can’t love Dakota Johnson? (I didn’t know that’s Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith’s kid… and I never knew she plays Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Of Grey/Darker and Freed. All of which I have never seen but I heard all the moms loved the book) Such a great movie!! Highly recommended. Leslie Mann is also cute in this movie and I missed her since “This Is 40”.

She Said came in with a solid 8/10 and IMDb Metascore at 74 and 13k people rating it on average as a 7.2 // Solid movie about putting away a scumbag by having that ball roll down the hill by two New York reporters who broke one of the most important stories that help ignite a movement and shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood.

Other notes…

Emily the Criminal was worth the watch. I gave it a 7 and enjoyed following her story. The Good Nurse was also worth the watch on a Sunday afternoon with Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne.

Movies above: The Killing of Two Lovers 6/10 | 38 at the Garden 6/10 | Luckiest Girl Alive 6/10 | Lou 6/10 | Untold Operation Flagrant Foul 7/10 | NYC Point Gods 6/10 | Where the Crawdads Sing 6/10 | Parasite 8/10 | I Orgins 7/10 | Shutter Island 8/10

Movies above: Inception 8/10 | The Life Aquatic 7/10 | Winning Time 8/10 | Little Miss Sunshine 6/10 | Hustle 7/10 | Before Midnight 8/10 | Day Zero 8/10 | Ted K 6/10 | The Worst Person In The World 9/10 | Please Hold 8/10

I think I will get my movie goal…

It’s now boring Feb/March so it’s time to watch some movies. I’m making some notes of stuff to watch… so many movies on the watchlist… it’s sometimes hard to pick one since I forget what they are about for the ones that I fell in love with the trailer.

Some are for me alone… some are for a friend and some are for a woman…

Wild Rock Outfitters Presents The Banff Film Festival 2023

Excited to finally get back into the theatre seats for the Banff Film Fest coming back to Peterborough. Last year covid wiped it out and I watched the section of films online. The year before that… Michelle and I purchased the films online and cooked a meal to enjoy them.

When my buddy Drew told me about this and we went together I was hooked. Looking forward to getting tickets this year. I would love for my kids to come up and enjoy the festival and we have to go out for some winter hikes in the day and go downtown for a bite to eat and enjoy the section of films.

My other posts on the Banff Film Fest can be found here. Message me if you are interested in going and let’s make it a group.

Walter Mitty | The Quintessence Of Life

I watched a movie from 2013 that stars Ben Stiller as Walter who works for Life Magazine where he is thrown into Adventure. The movie didn’t make much of a splash. The movie is a beautiful piece of cinema. It was shot on film which was excellent. The lenses used work well with natural light. The narrative is Walter who has daydreams of adventure. He is thrown into the wrap-up of Life Magazine and he is in charge of the last image that will be used on the cover which is missing.

Understanding Walter is easy and his progression in the movie and how he changes as the movie progresses and he gets out of his shell and loses the person he was as he finds purpose.

He has issues with being “present”. Just loved this movie. Stiller directed the movie. Cheryl is sweet and she is on my crush list.

Gave it a 9/10

Really enjoyed this video essay on the film that I watched before watching the film.

In Progress | 35 of 101 | Knock My Movie List Down to 300 Titles & Review 700 Movies | Movies watched 2018 to 2021

Here is my list of movies I’ve watched in 2022 (If you want to jump ahead to the current post of what I’m watching)

Below is my movies watched for 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018…

This is the first task in my 101 Things To Do In A 1001 Days which I have over two years left to complete to get my list down to 300 titles.  I will do this one.  My goal is a movie every 2-3 days.  My list grows as I add titles and sometimes I take a couple away if I’ve gone completely cold on a title and would never click to watch it online.

Just wanted to have a spot where I could list some of the movies that I want to see. I like to ask people for recommendations and I stick them in Evernote to keep track of them. I will have to set it up better and bring some to the top and focus on those first.

To see my FULL WATCHLIST on IDMb, you can visit it here.

Wednesday Movie Bucket List Review | Broken Flowers

tumblr_n8kgl18uU41qcung4o1_500

Recently I had the chance to watch the movie Broken Flowers starting Bill Murray who plays a intensely withdrawn Don Johnston who is dumped by his latest woman.  He then receives an anonymous letter from a former lover informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. A freelance sleuth neighbor moves Don to embark on a cross-country search for his old flames in search of answers.

I seen the trailer for the movie from another movie I picked up at the local library this past summer.  It looked interesting and I added it to my Evernote to add to my Movie Bucket List that you can find here.

IMDb rated it a 7.2 out of 10 from it’s members.  I gave it 8 Lolita’s (Sharon Stone’s Daughter) out of 10.  I would recommend picking it up from the library and bringing it home to watch.  It’s a good little film.

Teckie Thursday | IDMb Website + My Bucket List | Who Wants To See A Movie

A neat website that lets you create a watchlist of movies you want to see as well as ones that you might have missed.  So many little gems out there.  I recently sat down and looked at all the movies going backwards and as I created the list… it brought me other movies to consider.

Based on the member ratings as well as some trailers… I now have a list of 267 Movies to watch.

They can be sorted by type or by rating.  Then as I watch them… they come off my list. I am always asking people to recommend me movies that they have seen and loved and thought nobody has ever really seen it.  I add them to my Evernote to keep track of and I also add quick voice memo’s into Evernote when I am watching the trailers so I can add to my list.

You can view my list here.

Watching movies is way better than TV.  I have started watching them alone and I enjoy watching them with people.
