Navigation Challenge | Swimming In Toronto

In the summer of 2014… I thought it would be fun to take the kids swimming somewhere different and do a little challenge with them to see if they could get us there by themselves.  I like teaching my kids street smarts and have them use their own judgement to problem solve.  My kids need to know how to follow maps and read signs.  They need to know how to cross the street without a traffic light.  They need to know when it’s safe to cross.

The video of the day is below:

Previous 101 List Completed | Up The CN Tower With The Kids

Just a short time ago… I took the kids downtown to explore the city a bit and hit the CN Tower.  We went downtown and hit Chinatown near Spadina & Dundas and hit some shops.  Chantal has never been to Chinatown and she loved the stores will all the fake brandname stuff and electronics.  We then had lunch.  Noah sweet talked me into getting him shoes and I gave them each some money to buy some things they wanted.  Noah picked up a hat.  I guess he needed some more swag.

We then headed down to Front Street to get tickets for the Tower.  It took us a good hour in line to get to the elevator to head up.  Noah was a little scared.  Once up there… he was pretty good.  We went up just as it was going to get dark soon… so we could see the city in the day and when it twinkles.  We took our sweet time and walked around and looked at all viewpoints of the city.  The kids thought it was cool to see places that we just walked and had lunch at.  We then went up to the Skypod and viewed it from that vantage point.  I gave Chantal a sharpie so she could write her name that she “was there”.  We also hit the glass floor before heading down to the ground level again.  We then hit up Jack Astors on Front for dinner and watched a bit of the Hockey Game.  Leafs were playing the Penguins and the game was in Toronto… so they thought it was neat that we were watching the game on the big screen that was being played 4 minutes away.

It was a great day and I was glad that I could take my little man up the tower for the first time.  Chantal had the chance to go up already with her cousin.

Previous 101 List Completed | Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Completed: Attend a Blue Jays Game with the kids.

I’ve wanted to take the kids out of school and sign them out and take them to a Blue Jay game.  I will do that in the future.  The first thing we had to do is attend a baseball game just the 3 of us.  We had a blast.  It was a hot day in the sun.  The next game we go to will be an evening game and we will get some closer seats.

Previous 101 List Completed | I Can See The Mountain!

#16 on my 101 Things to do in a 1001 Days is about going to Wonderland this summer with the kids a couple of times.

Hope to get more season’s passes for next year.  It was fun.  I do wish I went more.  Glad this one got completed.  Had a great time with them this summer at Wonderland.  It is hard since the age difference is tough to manage having them enjoy the rides that they like to go on with just me.  It was nice to spend time with Karen at Wonderland doing things the 4 of us and splitting up to spend some one on one time with them.

The kids enjoyed taking the bus to Wonderland.  I think all kids love buses and trains.  It does make for a long day with them.  I appreciate the time with them and just letting them be kids!

Wonderland Is Upon Us | Great Day

Love going to Wonderland as a kid.  Wanting to walk fast in between each ride.  I see this in my kids.  I hear my little man squeak “I see the mountain!” when we are going up the 400.  I did the same thing as a kid.  I was excited walking up to the front gate… to standing in front of the mountain for a picture to walking out when it’s dark.

We are going today.  Hopefully can squeeze one more trip in before the season ends.  Passes next year for sure again.  Last time we went… little man loved the swing above.  He loves to fly.  He loves to get out his little daredevil and have fun.

I love seeing them happy.  Yesterday was fun with them.  Tomorrow will also be fun.  Great 3 day weekend thanks to a PA Day.  God love the teachers!

Embrace the day people!  (skeets)
