DYI Desk Project 2.0 | On My Desk At Work

Saturday, September 10th, 2016

About a year and a half ago… I made a little DYI desk project to help me at work to daydream and remember little moments in the past.  It is an accordion style thingy that has 5 panels on one side and you can turn it around to switch it up.   I thought it was time to have 10 more 5×7 panels printed to give me some new things to look at.

Above is one panel.  I’ve selected 5 collages to be one one side and they are on this post and the other 5 panels are private for two reasons.  I will try and get a better picture of it so you can understand of what it looks like all folded out.  Here are the 5 public panels.

When selecting images and what to put on each panel… I tried to have the kids, a quote, something about traveling, food, music and something about the “lust” of a woman.  u3

Photos are from tumblr, my instagram and taken from my phone.

What I love about images is that some have a “double meaning” so a certain hand selected image on the top photo with the little wall hook in the bottom left mean more to me that how you would see that image and looking back in 10 years of that little wall hook wanting to fight will remind me of where that wall hook was hanging and reminds me you don’t have to have anything to be happy.

The 10 panels that I took off will be kept and my goal is to make wallpaper with them that will be coated with a gloss and will be in the office wall of my tiny house.  So it will be a collection of things that inspire me or make me reflective.  Sort of my tumblr feed on my wall.

It’s nice to get back in the swing of things with making these all on my cracked screen iPod.  It’s fun to play with the edits on iMovie inside the iPod and use video and sound from other clips to overlay.  In the video…

I finally made the mug that I’ve been holding on to for a while and personalize it a little with a little slogan that i love and a little ‘jsdoit’ with three dots underneath to represent the 3 of us and the year my second life started and my sig on the side.

Raps are still battling in the playoffs and we went down to the ACC to stand and cheer them on and I enjoyed watching at home on tape delay after work.  I wear my Del Curry warm-ups for good luck on the couch.

We also hit Snakes and Latte’s in Toronto and this time the Annex location which was so much fun.  This was our second trip to Snakes and we really liked this location better being near Honest Ed’s and so easy to get to off the subway.

We also shot a round of “Honest Answers” in Toronto… so I have to edit that up.  I’m also going backwards and posting in order all the OSE videos that I started filming in May of 2014 to YouTube.  I will break them down into shorter videos and add them to a playlist… so they can all be watch in a row.  You can view the playlist here and I will upload videos to it every other day.

I really wish I started this project in 2012 when I started the second part of my life.  Below is my OSE video:

Daydreaming At Work | DYI Project | Happy Thoughts

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015

At work… I’ve made a little double-sided 5 panel project that consists of 5×7’s with little pictures taken from my ipod, camera and tumblr.  Just a random collection of images that make me happy and something to look down under my monitor if I want to drift away.

It’s little pictures that help me remember a moment or a future moment that has not happened yet.

I’m going to make new panels that fold over so it will evolve as new memories are made.  I don’t care if I offend anybody since they are small and it’s mine.  My mind is made up of many little thoughts and wishes.  Things I want to do and do things with people in my life.

Yes this is on my desk.  There is 10 panels in total so every couple of days… I flip it around so I see the back.

This is five of the ten panels and your not going to see the other five.  I find it interesting after a while at which pictures my eyes wander too…
