Craig Cardiff | Peterborough

Craig rolled into town for a sweet set in Feb in Peterorough.  Born in 1976 and from Waterloo.  He has released 16 albums.  A great Canadian folk singer.  His PTBO show was recorded, so I’m eagerly waiting for the release on Spotify.  His banter in between songs is lovley and his travels have given him many intimate connections throughout North America.

I created a little playlist of the songs that I enjoy of his.  I’m slowly going through his older releases and will be adding to it.  I will put in his PTBO show recording when it’s released into this post.  If Craig rolls into your little town or city… please grab that special someone and go and see him live.  It’s a nice little intimate set and his wit in between songs is lovely.  He is a great storyteller.

Looking forward to supporting him again the next time he rolls into town.

Ziggy Alberts | Concert In Toronto

a friend at work discovered ziggy from my early morning playlists.  he is from the land down-under and this was his first trip to north america on tour.  we was going to play at the drake but due to selling out they moved it to adelaide hall which i never knew existed.  we went downtown and hit queen west all the way to ossington ave and up oss to dundas and back towards the city…  along the way we hit kensignton market which was having it’s jazz festival so we had dinner and drinks at the supermarket which was nice and walked to adelaide to the venue for the concert.  such a warm day.  the watch said we walked over 20km.  cara from work is heading out west for school… so it would be nice to fly out to visit.

ziggy is a great little artist and he was so good.  the venue was packed and hot inside but it was such a fun concert.

Dan Mangan | The Hayloft Dancehall | Picton, Ontario

July 14th headed down to Picton to the Hayloft Dancehall to catch Dan play an intimate set in front of fans.  In January of 2015 the owner of the Dakota Tavern in Toronto purchased this neat little venue and did some renos.  The venue holds close to 200 and people are right in front of the stage and can spill out onto the grass outside.  They cook some yummy treats and have a small selection of nice beer on tap.

Dinner in Picton with Heidi, Shelly and Michelle, and over to the Hayloft for the show.  It was a long night after driving back to Peterborough.

Love Dan.  You should love both of us too.

Peterborough Folk Festival 2016 | Dan Mangan

pff1

This year… I was working during this years festival.  Saturday night… ended up going afterwork up north to a cottage to watch the Tragically Hip’s last concert on CBC.  Afterwork on Sunday… I went to sit on the hill to watch Royal Wood perform followed by Dan Mangan.

This year the lineup was pretty good.  Dan was who I wanted to see.  He was great stripped down with his guitar man by his side and he played a great selections of songs.  It was great to see Shay on the Sunday and catch up with her and to my left was a PTBO Tumblr peep Rachel and her BF.

When the festival gave Dan the nod to wrap it up he came off the stage and played two more songs standing on a chair.  Robots is one of the fan faves to close things down.  I was impressed with so many people knowing the words. 🙂

I will knock Dan off my list of 30 artists to watch live on my101 list.  Below is “Robots”
