The Paper Kites | TwelveFour | Concert | Lee’s Palace – Toronto

Sunday, November 29th, 2015

The Paper Kites is such a sweet sweet band from the land of down under.  I’ve taken the full albums from the two EP’s and made them into a mixtape that you can download here.  I had the opportunity to go see them last night at Lee’s Palace in Toronto and it was a sweet show.

I fell in love for the soft reflective feel they give.  If you want to hear some older stuff you can hit this post.  The new album is a tiny bit forward for them as a group and the trailer of the album is shown below.  Such a cool process of writing music each night only between midnight and 4am.

The new album is nice.  I’ve highlighted some songs below the trailer

The Paper Kites from the land of down under just came to the United States to tour.  They are covering North America right now with a new album.  The songs below are older Paper Kites.  I’m hitting the concert tonight.  Love the soft voices.  Perfect for the weekend or a nice rainy day that you can fill it with music as you get through it.

The album before this new one is called “States” and it’s beautiful.  I’ve used their songs on the “Sunday Morning” mixes. Listen to them below. Listen to the sweetness pouring out of your speakers or earbuds.  I will do a new blog post soon of the new album.

You know this one below if you have downloaded my “Sunday Morning” Mix which is so delightful. Fuck me… it’s such a sweet song. You can never get up grumpy to this one.

In Progress: List3 | #8 of 101 Things To Do In 1001 Days | Legacy Project | Hidden Blog | Videos + Pictures + Words

Tuesday, November 24th, 2015

For a while now there is a secret blog inside this blog that you can’t see.  One of my things on my new 101 Things to do in 1001 days is to finish the damn thing.  Also on that list is to sort all the photos and raw video I have on my computer.

When I was down east visiting my Dad… I took some images of some pictures that he had for the secret blog.

I think I did a post about it before.  It’s basically a “legacy project” that it covers my entire life and before I was alive.  Some family tree stuff.  I’ve even figured out a way for this blog to last a long time online if I get hit by a bus by figuring out a clever way for the bill to get paid for it.

This new blog will cover the following segments:

  • before I was born
  • the bebe (me growing up)
  • the high school years
  • with Karen before being married
  • married life
  • single life after Karen

Noah Getting Ready For Bed Part I from Dan Deveau on Vimeo.

It will feature the little video I have and the pictures put into blog posts since the kids don’t really know what life was like before they were born.  Chantal does not really know what her life was really like before the age of five.

See I could never understand that.  But in today’s world it makes sense.  Parents capture with phones and photos stay inside them and go into computers and never really get seen.  It our days there was albums to look through.  There was our parents going to Black Photo and Costco and getting 4×6’s of every shot taken.  We stole the ones we wanted of us.  We looked at them and visualized what we did and remembered moments.  Our kids don’t see half the images we take.

I want my kids to have something they can snoop and read and watch so they will know about the history of things since it will go back before they were born.  I’m going to try and get old grade school friends to record audio stories to include and also try and get audio stories from family members that I can upload into soundcloud.

For me… it’s a winter project.  I get sentimental around the holidays and it a way to keep busy since I’m being sheltered from the kids.  It helps me look back on memories and I like to document things.

I will make it live when I have it almost finished and I can decide on the layout and how to best present it.

Beme | The New Social? | Love The Angle + Wish Everyone I Liked Was On It

1-screen shot 2015-07-018

Watch the short video above and open your mind about how you and others post…

What I like about Beme is that you just shoot and you can’t edit or preview and check to see if you like that “look” before you post.  You also just share without concentrating on your phone.

I like Facebook but I miss just the true stuff you see about people like the personal pictures.  It’s all about sharing funny videos and quotes and news articles.  With many pages on FB just want “shares” to gain “reach” I’m getting less and less real status updates and real pictures from friends since there a math calculation on what Facebook feels you should see and from who.

Right now… I’m the only one on Beme that I know of… and I’m just starting to use it.  It’s just little 4 seconds and you can download the clips later to your camera roll on your phone so it will help me get little footage for my One Second Everyday Project.

I would love key people in my life to use it and I could catch up with what’s up in their world easily.   I think Beme will take off but I don’t think the world is ready yet.  I wanted to get my username locked in.  I like the “honest” sharing it offers with little glimpses that are documented.

My username is “jsdoit” and you should download the app (Android is coming soon) and follow me and start posting some Beme’s.  I would like to play around with this app.

The video by Casey above was done when it launched… so since then the app has had some tweaks to make it better.

Why not get in on “the new social” and start trying it.

If you have Beme on your phone and you are reading this…  click here to follow me:

Pending List3 | #7 of 101 | Install a “Before I Die Wall” Somewhere | 101 Things in 1001 Days

1-nov tumblr 20143

My goodness.  A year has gone by since K-Land got me a “Before I Die” book last November.  Candy Chang first started the project in New Orleans.  Last year… I contacted the Town Of Ajax Library about putting up a wall.  I could not get anywhere with them.  It’s time to get a wall up.  Maybe if I even start a small one with one piece of plywood to start.  It can be in Peterborough or Ajax.

I will keep my eyes open for somewhere in the community that a wall could be added.  Inside a cafe or a public space.  I’ve added it to my 101 list.

I emailed the Town Of Ajax tonight to try and start a talk between us about a wall that could be in Ajax at the Library and could also be portable and be moved to Town Of Ajax events at the waterfront.

Update:  I need to follow up with the Town of Ajax.  I’ve also been in discussion with the building manager where I work to do this project.  I also need to look more around Peterborough for options.
